As an animator, video editing is an essential skill. Whether it’s assets I’ve made myself, footage from a professional shoot, or stock assets I can splice it together and make it shine!

I’ve been lucky enough to have a job that pushed me to refine my video editing abilities. And while I would not call myself an expert, I have the proven myself capable of meeting and exceeding project deadlines.

A video editing project from my college days.

Where it all began.

The Art Institute of Charlotte, North Carolina was a formative time, not just for my skills, but my life as well. Here is one of my favorite project assignments I worked on. I was given greenscreen video clips of two random dinosaurs. No narrative, no sequence order, just soundless assets.

So I modeled out a 3D environment, greenscreened it into the footage, wrote a script, added sound effects, and (with the help of some friends to read the voice lines) my silly masterpiece was complete.

So many projects during that time were down to the wire and very messy (you’ll see some examples throughout this site). And, while this is no Mona Lisa, I finally felt like I could feel confident in my abilities with this project.

With a combination of my own animation and stock music, I created this holiday themed post for social media.

Working in Marketing

While I initially began my time at Current Electric in the Accounting Department, I was given a chance to show my worth in Marketing. For once I was using my art to earn my living and it was such an honor.
